SQL Easy exists for one reason: to help as many people as possible learn SQL. For free.
SQL Easy is not a business, but a free resource provided by the team at Beekeeper Studio, an open source SQL GUI. We maintain SQL Easy because we believe that coding skills should be accessible to everyone. We hope that SQL Easy allows you to learn SQL quickly, then get on with your life and spend money on other things :-).
The pledge
- ✓Free forever. Every lesson, every exercise, every database, every hint. No paywall. No "free trial." Just free.
- ✓No ads. Not on the page, not in the lesson, not in the editor. We will never sell your attention to a third party.
- ✓No paid tier. There is no "Pro" version of this site that has the better lessons. The lessons here are the lessons.
- ✓No paid certificates. We're not a big shot university so there's no need to buy any sort of 'diploma' from us.
- xNo tracking-pixel grossness. We use a privacy-respecting analytics tool that doesn't require a cookie banner. No retargeting, no cookies sold to data brokers, no creepy ads following you around the internet.
Why?
Because more people knowing SQL is good for everyone. The world has a lot of data, and most of those databases are guarded by a small group of people who happened to learn SQL at some point. That is silly. The more people that know SQL, the better!
Honestly, learning SQL is fun (or can be fun). Watching a query come back with the right rows is a tiny dopamine hit, every single time. We want that hit to be available to anyone with a browser :-).
The story
SQL Easy was originally built in 2017 by Cristian Gonzalez while he was working at StubHub, to help his teammates learn SQL fast. The idea was simple: hands-on practice beats lectures. Read a sentence, write a query, see the result, repeat.
It took off. More than 500,000 people have finished the tutorial since launch, almost entirely by word of mouth. The team at Beekeeper Studio has maintained and grown the site since taking it over.

We are the team behind Beekeeper Studio, an open-source SQL editor with over 2 million downloads. If you end up working with SQL in the future, we hope you'll use our tool. So yes, in theory more SQL-literate humans is good for our business. You do not have to use Beekeeper Studio to use this site, nor do you need to use it at any point in the future.
